Welcome to Spring International Language Center (SILC) and the University of Arkansas (UAF). We are thrilled that you will be joining us for your Fulbright Pre-Academic Program. As we have a long history of preparing graduate students and Fulbright Grantees for their academic degree programs, we will be honored to add you to our list of successful Grantees.
The University of Arkansas has a long and intimate history with Senator William J. Fulbright. He not only attended the University, but he was President of the University of Arkansas as well. Because of his experience in Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and much due to the influence of that experience, he had the vision to imagine the potential of the international educational program that holds his name today. While he was a Senator from the State of Arkansas, he was respondible for the legislation that created your Fulbright Program. We recently dedicated a Statue of Senator Fulbright and now he stands gazing at the Fulbright Peace Foundation on our campus. We will happily take your picture with the Senator when you arrive.
Please read the section that follows carefully so that you will have a good idea about your Pre-Academic Program at the University of Arkansas. If you have any questions about your Fulbright Grant, you may contact The Institute of International Education - Resources for Current Non-U.S. Fulbright Grantees:
http://www.iie.org/fulbright/fellows/ff/.IIE will be your program administrator. As I am sure you are aware, your Fulbright Grant is sponsored by The United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
After you have read the following special Fulbright Section of our Web Site, please send us your housing and airport arrival information along with your program needs analysis form. Once we have these, we can confirm your housing and arrange for one of our staff to pick you up at the airport.
We look forward to meeting you personally. Take care and have a safe journey to Fayetteville. You have a very exciting time ahead of you and a great responsibility to continue the Fulbright legacy.
