Position Description

Title:International Student Advisor

Duties: Serves as Registrar by handling admissions, records, and transcripts.  Provides immigration counseling and issues I-20’s. Responsible for routine correspondence to students, information flow, recruitment and marketing as needed. Provides assistance to the program director with proposals and special recruiting projects. Produces publication materials.  Maintains SILC and student files, attendance records, and handles student insurance and claims. Makes arrangements for the first day of the term.  Supervises front office work-study positions.  Interface on the U of A campus with International Admissions, ID Office, and International Students and Scholars.

Qualifications:  Strong computer skills, excellent interpersonal relations and organizational skills with strong attention to details and accuracy. Bachelor’s degree plus two years administrative experience.  Excellent organizational and phone skills, clear speech, and patience. Ability to work with international students. International experience a plus. SEVIS experience preferred. Special training in immigration and registrar procedures will be provided as needed.

Compensation: Salary to be negotiated at the time of hiring with periodic reviews. Salary may be based on the size of the program, candidate’s qualifications, and the amount of assistance provided by other staff members.

Benefits:

Health Insurance plan:  for individual or family; SILC contributes 50%, employee 50% of monthly premium.
Retirement/Savings plan:  After one year of employment, contributions up to 3% of salary matched by SILC.
Paid Vacation:  2-3 weeks per year depending on years of service (see Policies and Procedures Manual), plus one week during the Christmas break. Sick leave.
Tuition reimbursements: 50% of approved coursework paid. Social security and unemployment insurance.
