RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES and PHOTOS

We do not believe in "all work and no play." After our students have worked so hard in class all week, they deserve to enjoy themselves! SILC arranges many diverse recreational activities that our students can choose to participate in. Students are joined by their teachers, SILC staff and American conversation partners. Fees are minimal, based on the cost of admission and transportation as required.

HALLOWEEN PARTY 2005

PRESIDENTIAL VISIT
On November 7, 1998, SILC students attended the opening of the new Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport and met President Clinton. Click above to see photos of our students meeting the President of the United States.

TRIP TO BRANSON, MISSOURI
Spend the day in one of the world's most visited vacation destinations. Located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, Branson holds claim to pristine natural surroundings, quality family entertainment, and great shopping! Branson, Missouri is famous for it's numerous theaters with world famous country and popular music performers such as Willie Nelson.

TRIP TO TULSA, OKLAHOMA
Spend the day in this attractive, fun-filled city, shopping in the fine malls and shopping centers as well as visiting the famous Gilgrease and Philbrook museums.

CANOE TRIP
Float part of the Elk River in Noel, Missouri, only one hour from Fayetteville. Canoeing is a fun way to explore the natural beauty of this region of the U.S.A.! (There will be canoeing lessons before the float.)

HIKE AT DEVILS DEN
Explore the wonder of nature in Arkansas on the many hiking trails and in the caves of the famous park. Bring your bathing suit if you want to swim. If you like water, but don't want to swim, there are paddle boats and fishing areas for your use. Flashlights will be provided to explore the caves.

WEEKEND AT THE LAKE
Stay at the Tanglewood Lodge located on beautiful Beaver Lake. Swimming, hiking, boating, fishing, food and fun! We will spend two days and one night at the lake.

TRIP TO EUREKA SPRINGS
Visit this picturesque Victorian village which contains elegant hotels and homes, hot springs and gas lit streets. Eureka Springs is also the home of the world famous Thornecrowne Chapel designed by Arkansas architiect Fay Jones. This is an excellent place to buy antiques and handicrafts.

WALTON ARTS CENTER
Fayetteville's center for the performing arts. This center is a state of the art theater which provides the community with a regular schedule of Broadway plays, nationally and internationally famous performing artist from many genres of music and the performing arts. Students are invited to attend any number of award winning Broadway musicals, plays, symphonies, art gallery showings and community outreach classes.

GENTRY DRIVE-THRU SAFARI
Experience the wonder of the wild wilderness! You will see a variety of exotic animals from the safety and comfort of a bus. Animals roam freely in a natural environment and you can enjoy a "hands on" experience with some of the tame animals in the petting zoo!

BBQ AND DANCE PARTY AT THE HOME OF DR. LANIER
Join in for a home made BBQand enjoy the of an American home.

OUTDOOR COUNTRY MUSIC CONCERT
Thousands of people gather to watch famous Nashville singers, eat hotdogs, hamburgers, fried chicken and funnel cakes (Arkansas' equivalent to the beignets of New Orleans).

HORSEBACK RIDING
Boston Mountain Riding Stables. We will take a guided tour over winding trails with breathtaking views of the Ozark Mountains.

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT DINNERS
Bring food from your country to share with your teachers and classmates. Feel free to bring traditional music, dress in traditional clothing, share customs, dance, games, etc.

AFTERNOONS AT THE MOVIES
Join us at the Cobb Fiesta 16 Cinema to enjoy any of the 16 movies showing daily.

ICE SKATING
Take a spin on the ice at the Harvey and Bernice Jones Center for Families in Springdale.

ROLLER SKATING
Get ready to "roll" to your favorite music! If you don't skate, we'll teach you or you can watch your friends while playing the video games and pinball machines.

BOWLING
Enjoy this popular American pastime of trying to knock over 10 pins with one ball!

SPORTS DAYS
We'll eat BBQ, play volleyball, horseshoes, frisbee, soccer, basketball and more…
