2017 Program Fees

 

 

Domestic Students:

 

Application Fee: $100

Tuition and Other Fees due before the first day of class: $2,200* (Domestic Students Only)

*Fees include: tuition, workshops, educational visits, campus fees, required textbooks and materials, and program certificate.

 

 

International Students:

 

Application Fee: $100

Tuition and Other Fees: $4,810** (International Students Only)

**Fees include: tuition, workshops, educational visits, campus fees, required textbooks and materials, program certificate, housing, meals, socio-cultural activities, health insurance, and transportation from the airport; fees DO NOT include airfare, SEVIS/visa fees.

 

 

Minimum Participation Requirements

 

For in-service teachers: International in-service teachers must have at least three years English teaching experience and must meet the following minimum language proficiency requirements: 550 TOEFL, 79 iBT, 6.5 IELTS, or equivalent, or have graduated from a U.S. institution of higher education with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Participants who fail to meet the language proficiency prerequisite may be required to enroll in English support classes during the duration of their program.

 

For pre-service teachers: Pre-service teachers must hold at least Bachelor’s degree, or be in their final year of coursework. They must meet the minimum language proficiency requirements as stated above.

Program Housing

 

International participants will be housed in apartments or the residence halls on campus. Residence halls are convenient, clean, and comfortable, offering all the conveniences of a home. The participants will be placed in double rooms equipped with desks, a chest of drawers, a bed, and linens. Computer hookups are also available for those participants with laptop computers. Free Wi-Fi service is available everywhere on campus. The University of Arkansas has numerous computer labs, a language lab, and an excellent comprehensive library. Participants will have access to student health facilities, the HPER (Health, Physical Education, and Recreation center), the student union, and numerous other campus facilities.

Spring International Language Center (SILC) at the University of Arkansas is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and continues to uphold the highest standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. The Commission on English Language Program Accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education. SILC is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.
