The Fayetteville, Arkansas RPCV group (Ozark RPCVs) was organized in the late 1980s. Ultimately, the group became affiliated with the NPCA. Its main activities consisted of social gatherings several times per year which served as a conduit for R PCVs in the area to maintain contact with each other. Membership grew to about 25 active members in the early 1990s.

In 1992, the group organized and hosted the annual NPCA national conference in Fayetteville which had 400 participants. Elaine Chao, then Director of the Peace Corps, was the key-note speaker. In the mid-1990s, membership and activities of the group declined. In April 2001, NPCA Director Dane Smith, visited the Fayetteville group. At that meeting, the group expressed its interest in reactivating itself.

The immediate objective of Fayetteville AR group is to again hold regular gatherings, to attain active status, and to reaffiliate with the NPCA in 2002.
